the sensuality of water
I am always fascinated by the profound impact that the elements have on our emotional and physical body. In my work as a kinesiologist and healer, I explore with my clients the intricate relationship between the elements and body, and the benefits that are available when we bring balance to the elements on an energetic level. Today I wanted to share how water is intricately connected to our sensuality and how we can cultivate more of it in our every day life.
Firstly, what is sensuality?
Sensuality is the experience of fully engaging with your senses in the present moment.
Feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin, savoring the taste of a delicious meal, or smelling the scent of fresh flowers. Sensuality is a sense of appreciation and aliveness in the body in the present moment, no matter what the circumstances around you. When you are in your sensuality, you are able to fully appreciate the richness of life and connect deeply with yourself and others.
So, how can we harness the element of water to cultivate more sensuality?
In traditional Chinese medicine, water is associated with the kidney and bladder meridians, which are responsible for filtering and balancing the body's fluids. These organs are also connected to our relationships, most importantly our relationship with self.
Water represents our intuition, the fluidity and flexibility of life, and the ability to adapt and flow with change.
Just as water can take on any shape or form, our emotions can also ebb and flow, changing with the tides of life. When we learn to fully embrace the fluidity of our life, connect to our senses and body in each moment, we can cultivate a greater sense of sensuality and peace in our lives.
Here are a few ways to use water to reawaken sensuality:
Take a bath: There's nothing quite as luxurious and sensuous as soaking in a warm bath. Water is incredibly healing and can help to relax our muscles and soothe our nervous system. Add some epsom salts, essential oils, candles, and soft music to enhance the experience and create a sacred space for yourself.
Connect with the ocean: There's something incredibly powerful and awe-inspiring about the ocean. The rhythmic sound of the waves, the salty smell of the air, and the vastness of the horizon can all help to ground us in our bodies and connect us to our sensual nature. If you're lucky enough to live near the ocean, take some time to walk along the shore or swim in the sea.
Practice fluid movement: Just as water flows and moves, our bodies are designed to move with grace and fluidity. When we engage in activities that allow us to move our bodies freely, such as gentle movement, dancing, yoga, or swimming, we can tap into our sensual nature and experience a greater sense of pleasure.
Embrace your emotions: To truly harness the power of water and cultivate sensuality, we must learn to embrace our emotions fully. When we try to suppress or ignore our feelings, we cut ourselves off from the very essence of our being. Instead, try to welcome all of your emotions with curiosity and compassion, knowing that they are simply a natural part of the ebb and flow of life.
Drink plenty of water: Staying hydrated is essential for our physical and emotional well being. When we are dehydrated, we can feel lethargic, irritable, and disconnected from our bodies. Drinking plenty of water can help to boost our energy, improve our mood, and enhance our sensuality.
Water is a magical and transformative element that can help us to cultivate a greater sense of sensuality in our lives.
By taking the time to connect with water in all its forms, and by embracing our emotions with compassion and curiosity, we can tap into the fullness of our sensual nature and experience a deeper sense of pleasure and joy. So go ahead, dive in, and let the power of water guide you to a more sensuous and fulfilling life.
